Design + Construction

On my journey to become a fashion designer, I’ve spent a lot of time designing and creating pieces. Here is some of that work!

These linen cargo pants are hands down my favorite design to date. I created them as my first challenge to draft a pattern entirely from scratch, using Adobe Illustrator to bring the concept to life. The fabric—a repurposed duvet cover—adds a unique character and flow that I think really elevates the design. I also had a lot of fun experimenting with pocket placement, which I believe adds both functionality and a distinctive visual element to the piece.

This piece was my first dive into graphic knitwear. I started by designing a playful little graphic of a golfing duck, then translated it into a grid where each square represented a single crochet stitch. I brought the design to life using a mix of yarn from my personal stash and secondhand finds, which made the process feel even more personal and intentional.

This look was designed as a New Year’s Eve outfit. I drafted the pant pattern in Adobe Illustrator and brought it to life using thrifted curtains, giving the piece both structure and sustainability. The top was hand-beaded with fishing line and a mix of beads sourced from various places. The curving lines in the pants symbolize a sense of flow and transition into the new year, while the shimmering beaded top captures the glitz and celebration that define NYE.

These looks were inspired by the environment that surrounded me during the summer of 2023. Fresh off graduating from Miami University, I was living at home and focused on building my fashion portfolio. My family’s farm—rich with nature, wildlife, and open space—became the backdrop for my creativity. I aimed to capture a sense of playfulness and freedom, while still keeping the pieces chic and elevated. Each look carries a subtle country influence, balanced with a modern, stylish edge.

I designed this look for a beach wedding, aiming for something unique and playful, yet breathable and easy to move in—perfect for warm weather and dancing into the night. One of my favorite elements is the fabric: secondhand curtains with a texture and color that evoke the feeling of water. The dress flows effortlessly, capturing both the laid-back vibe of the beach and the special energy of a celebration.

These trousers allowed me to dive deeper into the world of pattern making. I designed a relaxed-fit silhouette, drafting the pattern in Adobe Illustrator and constructing the final piece using secondhand materials. The process was both a technical challenge and a creative exploration in sustainable design.
