December

+ The Blue Dress

December was my first full collection. I created this collection for the Miami University Fashion & Design (MUF&D) 17th Annual Fashion Show. The idea was a gender neutral collection in which I created items for anyone and everyone. Each pair was wearing the same pieces but in different colors or fabrics to represent this idea.

Creating this collection was how I learned the basics of fashion design. The most important skill I taught myself while making December was how to use, create, and adjust patterns. I learned the importance of how clothing fits, and that it takes multiple renditions to come to a final product.

I sold some of the pieces from this collection and 100% of the proceeds went to The National Black Women’s Justice Institute.

I had a few inquires about the sweaters from the first look and fulfilled a special request to make the sweater vest in black.

The Blue Dress was apart of a collaborative collection with other MUF&D designers of the 17th Annual Fashion Show. This collection opened the entire show and The Blue Dress opened the collection.
